View Full Version : [ubuntu] Pause Upgrade Option?

I am currently trying to upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10, but the download takes over 16 hours for me, and in the meantime I need to transport my laptop to school, obviously losing internet connection on my way there. If I do this, the entire download will fail. There must be a way to pause the upgrade and then simply resume again at my convenience and with no data loss. Surely someone could give me a tip here?

Thanks!

Doug

P.S. careful with terminology you use as I'm quite the newbie:)

If that is the case I would not upgrade through the update manager but download the alternate cd with a torrent.

You can use the alternate to upgrade from.

I'm not sure about during an upgrade, but I have stopped an install during the download cycle and it has just carried on where it left off.
