Philips Webcam SPC110NC does not work

Hello again,

I just purchased a Philips Webcam, model SPC110NC, and found that when viewing it through Cheese, I just get snow (and that special color board that they use for interrupted TV broadcasts or technical errors). I've found that, unfortunately, Philips does not offer official Linux support, and the fix they linked to didn't really do the trick.
Does anyone have a fix, or is there a webcam anyone here would recommend that works better with Linux?

Okay, I was trying to close this thread, but I don't know how. I returned the webcam yesterday. One of my friends told me that if I type in dmesg into terminal, and the webcam string doesn't output v4l, it isn't worth the trouble getting it to work.
