View Full Version : [ubuntu] Audio problems with late 2008 MavBook and Fusion 2.0

I have a new (late 2008) 2.4 gHz. MacBook with leopard 10.5.5, 2 gig of memory and WindowsXP installed in Fusion 2.0. I have not found any problems with the WindowsXP installation when using either internal audio devices or external USB audio devices.

After installing Ubuntu 8.04.1 desktop and then installing the VMware tools the Ubuntu installation seems to perform quite well EXCEPT for audio input. I do not seem to be able to use the internal microphone, internal line in nor my external Griffin iMic USB audio device's line in. I have not been able to get any audio input to Ubuntu's sound recorder, Skype or my ham radio program Gsmk. When I look at the OS X sound preference panel the bar graph indicates audio input is present but it does not get through from Fusion to Ubuntu 8.04.

Audio output seems okay as indicated by good startup tones, good audio output from Skype as well as both video and audio from You Tube videos. I am really not sure where to look for the problem as all is well with the Fusion/WinXP installation and I have not found any posts on the Ubuntu forums describing this situation.

Any suggestions?

Mike
