I anve a Series 2 DTIVO with a hacked 500gb hard drive. The problem is is when I hacked the hard drive I did not turn off encyption. I want to get a number of recorded shows off it and re-hack the hard drive and turn off the encyption.
I could transfer to VHS, but that is time consuming.
If I hook the myth computer up I can transfer, but again very time consuming as the only way I saw to do it was by using the watch "live tv" function and its record capability. this method requires a lot of hands on work.

I get the feeling as I write this I am stuck.

Any suggestions?

I am sure that there is nothing in MythTV or Mythbuntu that would decrypt your saved shows. If there exists an external utility, then you might have a chance.

You can turn off encryption for future recordings and use a unscramble version for the ones already recorded. download tysuitej and use it to transfer the recorder unscrambled programs to your mythtv. The tysuitej can save it as any file format you wish avi mpg2 etc. I use it and they are great. You can find all this at dealdatabase.com. search for tysuitej and turn off encryption. the post is by someone called alphawolf for the unencrpytion. Youll like it. You can tie your myth into your directv and have the best of both worlds
