What a way to spend one's 100th post!
I just discovered that one of the greatest games of all time, Escape Velocity, has a windows version and it installs very well in Crossover. I'd guess that it would work in regular wine just fine too!
I never really thought about it, but most Linux people, who usually come from Windows backgrounds, have never seen this game: it was one of the most sucessful Mac shareware games ever. The last version of it produced was also released as a windows port. Its THE classic space trader/shooter/take over the universe game. For those of you who played Tradewars, you'd love this. Also, I'm pretty sure Firefly's Jos Wedon had seen this game when he was thinking of what to do with the series. Find it at Ambrosia's (the excellent shareware company) site in the game section:

A note! You need to have Quicktime installed BEFORE installing EV for it to work properly, and it works much better on my machine when run in a window (find it in the prefs panel). Probably has something to do with my crappy ATI graphics card.
Off to pimp out my Gremlin transport!
