i can second that. I have tried it running on a couple of different machines with, Nvidia, ATI and intel GPU's and on every machine it's slow in comparison to hardy or any other dist I have tried on the same machines. OpenSuse, fedora, and pure debian.
How come that debian (both lenny and sid) are so much more responsive than ubuntu/kubuntu? After all ubuntu is build on debian.

latest ati driver (fglrx) (restricted hardware tool).

therefore,i'm looking for a new distro (fast and clean)

sorry.

Edit: i can't find any distro :(

i reinstall ubuntu intrepid. and install preload, powertop, disable compiz, enable metacity compositing.

yeah. very good speed.

Were you having trouble with Firefox graying out perchance? I'm looking for others with my problem in Ibex...

does that happen if you close firefox, rename ~/.mozilla to something else and try again?

I've had much less of a problem with this in 8.10. The worst was with 8.04.

I think the problem is with fglrx, I have an ATI 3870 and my stuff is slow on both Ubuntu and OpenSUSE. My 2 year old laptop integrated intel graphics are fast though, go figure.
