I've been running Puppy Linux on an old computer, and it's quite speedy and nice.

How is DSL in comparison? How much harder to use is it? Does it come with more or less stuff?

It looks a little complicated to download the ISO...

DSL is faster, smaller (less stuff) and marginally more difficult.

DSL's goals are to support old hardware and keep the distro within 50MB. Don't expect the latest versions of the included apps or for it to work on newer hardware because of the old 2.4 series kernel. They don't plan on going to a 2.6 series kernel anytime soon. I recommend you keep on using Puppy if you have newer hardware.

i've always found puppy easier to use, and more fun than dsl.

DSL is faster, but not much else.
I use it because I think it's more user friendly than Puppy (to me at least -- more straightforward commandline tools.)

I love DSL (v3.x). It makes my old crap computers run beautifully.

I really didn't care for Puppy. I really do enjoy having an OS that has a password for root access, and Puppy doesn't do that. I also had one heck of a time trying to figure out how to mount drives the first time.

Puppy also doesn't run on as old hardware as DSL will. DSL requires only 16M to run while Puppy requires somewhere around 128M.

Oh yeah, and just to top it all off, I think Puppy Linux is ugly. The only thing I liked about Puppy Linux is it barks when it boots. But I'll be damned if I use a Linux distro solely because it barks.

I loved it!!!!

The new puppy dvd is simply amazing but there's two things that I don't like about puppy. One is the running in /root thing. We're running linux. You're not supposed to be in root. Something about it. Another thing is not getting the packages that I want because there's not a pup or a pet package.
You can keep dsl at 50 Megs or you can turn it into a full blown debian system and we all know:

Debians' Good!

Why does it seem DSL is so complex to download? (According to the Wiki)

Is there some way where I can just download the ISO ala Ubuntu, Puppy etc.

Not sure what you're smoking, seeing as the image downloads are available from the front page.
