View Full Version : [ubuntu] Questions about installing Windows XP in Ubuntu

I recently realized how horrible my first partition, pre-installed Vista Home Premium, is for gaming...it doesn't even support AOE II LAN games. So, I would like to get XP up and running, but I don't want to mess with any of my partitions or boot sequence. So, naturally, I am looking towards virtualization.

My questions are:

My BIOS does not support any special virtualization stuff. What will this affect?

Which virtualizer works the best for Windows XP (virtualBox or something else)?

What is the easiest way to allow both Ubuntu and XP to be on my wireless network using the network card in the system?

Will running XP w/in Ubuntu allow me to play all of those classics that Vista does not run properly over LAN (including wireless LAN) and internet, just like a normal XP installation?

Will 1 gig of RAM and a nothing-special processor or graphics card still support BOTH Ubuntu with Compiz Fusion and Windows XP?

Can anyone please link me to a straight-forward tutorial on configuring XP in Ubuntu and the network adapter/connection?

Thanks in advance.

If you are going to use it primarily for gaming, be warned, VirtualBox doesn't support hardware rendering. Any modern 3D game won't work. AOE II will probably work though.:)
