Hello,
I am a complete newb to linux but want to try it out before I abandon windoze. Anyway, I have an XP host with ubuntu running as a guest. Everything is beautiful in ubuntu EXCEPT I can not mount my usb (Cruzer drive). I have searched and tried numerous things but as of yet cannot get it to work so I am asking for help. Most of what I see when I search is for setting up the usb from within XP as a guest.

If someone can point me to a good guide to help with my setup, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks but after following the instructions (several times), it still doesn't work. Does this guide have ALL the instructions for setting up the USB when ubuntu is installed as a guest on Virtualbox. (I have tried using different versions of VB but that didn't help either.)

Anyway, thanks for your input. I will keep looking.

Sorry, I missed you were running on a Windows host.

If no one with Windows experience answers, try the VBox forums.

Two things:

1. This MAY be due to what version of Virtual Box you installed. There's two flavors of VB and only one supports USB.

2. I've run XP in a virtual machine for ages and I always have trouble getting USB devices to work in Virtual Box. My printer is USB and it's recognized and connects effortlessly. Just about everything else USB related, though, is a total pain. Still there are lots of solutions "out there" but yes, most are for those running Windows guests. The Virtual Box forums would be your best bet.

Sorry to be such a downer but USB in VB has always been a thorn in my side.

May your luck be better than mine!
