Put your cd in the cd drive, then reboot your computer. It should load up on the cd, with a menu saying Ubuntu above it. If it doesn't restart, press the button that your computer says is "Multi-boot selection" or "Boot device selection" and select your cd drive.

On the menu from the livecd, select "Check cd for defects" and let that run. It should tell you if there is any problem. If there is, reply.

When you burnt the ISO as an image to a CD, did you burn it at X4 or lower?

To install it in windoze with out a partition this may help.

If I read this right you are wanting to install Ubuntu WITHOUT hurting your current Windows setup?

If So check out Wubi (http://wubi-installer.org/). This will install Ubuntu within the same partition and not harm your Windows data. If you don;t like it, you can always remove it from Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and it shows up as "Ubuntu"
