Okay I'll tell my whole story here.
- I have windows xp and I decided to download Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop.
- I've got it downloaded, but now I have no clue what to do next!
- I have winRAR, and I've been trying to research this as much as possible, but I'm still confused, which is where I need the help!

Okay so when I open the Ubuntu winRAR file it looks like this:
.disk
casper
dlists
install
isolinux
pics
pool
preseed
autorun.inf
mdssum.txt
readme.diskdefines
ubuntu
umenu.exe
wubi.exe

Everything from .disk to preseed look like folders, but anyways can someone please help me figure out what to do next? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff, could you make it step by step please lol.
Thank you!

After downloading Ubuntu you need to burn it to a disc as an Image: More info here: http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm. Also please use descriptive titles, not Need Help or Absolute Beginner, everyone needs help, this being a help forum.

So you have downloaded a file with the extension .iso?

Once you have this file you must use a program like Nero to burn it to a disc. (unless you want to run it in a virtual machine?)

When you burn the disc be sure to select burn ISO not to copy the file to the disc. If you do not have Nero there are plenty of free ISO burners available to download.

Since you're burning the ISO from Windows try this:
