I have tried a lot of Linux distros. I keep coming back to Ubuntu, it's the best of the lot.

So long as it works for you stick with it.
Ubuntu didn't work very well for me.

so has elive... i used to think it was all eyecandy and no functionality, but the latest development builds have been really nice (if you disregard some known bugs)

I've used tons of distros. Everything from Ubuntu, Slackware, Gentoo, openSUSE and Mandriva. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but I think Ubuntu is a good midpoint. I loved Slackware but after it taking a week to get my system how I wanted it while Ubuntu takes about an hour I feel the time saved is worth it...

Ubuntu's a "safe" distro for me. It's not incredible, but I know I'll be able to get it rolling within a half hour and won't have any errors. If things to ****-up somewhere else, I can move back to the brown circle.

Ultimate (Ubuntu) would be good, if only they sorted out the repo problems. It's a cross between Kubuntu and Ubuntu with a few nice touches.
Just heard of Minisys Linux (http://www.linux.com/feature/150993), a variant of Puppy (on steroids) that looks interesting.

Fedora flat out refused to recognise my touchpad but was jaw- dropping when it came to wireless for the few weeks I was playing with it. It never failed to connect or dropped signal.
