What is PCM audio?

Hello,

When I open the volume control panel, I see two different volume options. One of them is 'master' and the other is 'pcm.' What is PCM?

Pulse Code Modulation You can control either an application's volume or overall volume. PCM is a generic label for an internal digital channel.
