login with an USB key

The normal procedure with Linux is to enter a user name and a password.
Is there any way taht the potential user has to insert an USB key then type an username and a passphrase ( like with GPG ? )

There is a way you can keep you key in your USB stick and the System only let you log-in if the USB stick is iserted with the correct key
