Hi everyone. I want to copy my DVD's from the original disks and put them onto my western digital (my book) 500GB external hard drive for use on my Windows Media center PC. I currently have a XP/Ubuntu dual boot on this computer.

Is there a Linux program that will copy the disk and change it to a playable format that Windows will be able to play? Or even better, is there a Linux program that compares to windows media center that way I can try getting even farther away from Windows and its death grip?

I can copy the DVD's with dvdshrink but then I have a collection of .IFO, .BUP and .VOB files that media center wont play. How do I go about making them into a simple movie that will be kept on my Western Digital HD for playing whenever I want instead of loading a DVD each time I want to watch one?

Any information you guys have on this would be very much appreciated as I am ready to start pulling out whats left of my hair.

Are you saying that windows media player is not able to play .vob ?
You could put the .vob 's together
cat clip1.vob clip2.vob > clip.vob and play the complete video as 1 vob.
You do not want to play it under linux ?
Have you tried vlc ? It is freely available for windows and linux.

You could put the .vob 's together
Code:
cat clip1.vob clip2.vob > clip.voband
play the complete video as 1 vob.
cotcot, I'm not sure what you mean by this? How would I go about doing this?
