so my mini 9 is supposed to arrive today and I plan on removing XP and installing Ubuntu via my USB drive. I was checking out the netbook remix and wondering if I should install the
ume-config-netbook
package to get better performance. I don't really want any other part of the remix but that seems to be the part that tailors the OS to the atom processor and SSD.
Thanks in advance for any help.

No, please do not install ume-config-netbook. It was removed from the PPA because it cannot be uninstalled cleanly, and was really only for one specific device.
Can I ask, where are you seeing the ume-config-netbook package? I've deleted it from the ppa, so is someone else hosting it?
Thanks.

I see it was still listed as an installable package on the main page of the netbook-remix launchpad page.
Sorry about that! I've removed it now :-)
