i was ubuntu user but i left ubuntu for issues with my hardware that had not been solved yet and now i use vista .. i tried slackware for a while as dual boot it was great but i didn't like the fact i am using older packages than i was using in ubuntu and to install compiz it took me 3 hours to download each package and convert to to pkg then installpkg that was pain compared to sudo apt-get ...:)
now i am thinking about getting the latest packages my self to make a Linux from scratch .. but i have a question and failed to find an answer to .. how can i update the linux from scratch.. i mean i am now the man who make the distro not ubuntu or slackware so how to update LFS .. ?? is there update system i could use

if i'm not mistaken, you can only update LFS by compiling and installing the latest software source.

Nay, you can use which ever package system you want.

aye, i see :)

though

however, since these tools are designed for installing and
maintaining Debian GNU/Linux, they were never meant to be installed
"from scratch"

If you thought keeping slackware up to date was a pain, you won't like LFS. It's a ton of work. It's something cool to do as a learning experience, but to use it as your main system afterwards is probably not what you're after. Definitely try it sometime, but on a spare partition.

What hardware issues?

And have you tried sidux? Not as stable as Ubuntu, because the packages are more cutting edge, but if you want the newest packages in an easy to manage distro, it's worth a shot.
