I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or not, as it is very strange.

When I'm working at a particular clients (and only then), I get a bad video display crash. The whole display becomes garbled, including if I switch over to tty.

Restarting Gnome has no effect.

Normally, I would figure this is a nVidia card dying, but I get no display artefacts when I reboot, and when I work at home, on 2 screens (+ 24" dell), I never have a single issue.

The only things I can find different ace:
- I only work on the single laptop monitor, instead of laptop monitor + external 24" dell
- I have VMware virtual machine running XP (I just recreated it, in case that was it)

What is twice as weird, is when I go to tty (typing without actually seeing it), and shut down the machine, after a while, I get a clean display again. The Ubuntu shutdown display shows up correctly.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had had similar issues, or if I'm an edge case, and I may be potentially looking at a hardware issue (which is actually easier to solve).
