I'm currently running Gnome Power Manager 0.2.8.1 from Dapper. Keeping this great program up-to-date for the laptop owners out there would be nice.

Yes it is. Though MOTU's have told me that g-p-m performance is largely related to the availability of HAL/DBUS features... I don't know how much of an improvement the backport is on the current Breezy package.
