Looks like Avant (http://code.google.com/p/avant-window-navigator/) (although there are a few other things that it could possibly be). You can install it by typing:

sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator

Looks like AWM (Avant Window Navigator). Read more about it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avant_Window_Navigator).

Thanks guys. I tried it but didnt really like it. I didnt like the way that some of the icons would dissapear off the bar when I closed them out completely. I guess I was thinking/hoping it would be something simliar like a applet I used with superkaramba.

Yes, I agree that it can be hard to get used to the way that AWN works. I used it for a while but gave it up because I wasn't pleased with it. Also it's still in heavy development and is not always very stable.

There are other docks that you can check out, though, that do similar things. Google something like 'ubuntu docks'. KDE in particular has a nice dock called kdock that works the way you'd expect it to and has some fancy eye-candy effects; unfortunately I've had some issues trying to run it in Gnome (it works but with effects turned on it has some redraw issues), but in KDE it works great.

I never really liked OSX-like docks, they get in the way too much. But one dock I kind-of liked was Cairo-Dock it's pretty nice.
