Well firstly, I must say this is not a bad little operating system despite all of the complaints about stability I've seen. I picked up one of the daily builds and the install went smoothly and found my drivers right away so that was not a problem.:)

-The first thing I wanted to check out was Empathy since it was supposed to replace Pidgin. I found it to be a little bit unstable and did not like the fact it did not have notifications when contacts wetn on or off-line other than greying out the little icons. It is definitely going down the right track though.

-I then tried out the New Human theme and liked it at first but it grew real old on me really quick! I then downloaded the community themes from the repositories they are very nice indeed. I don't know if anyone else has tried this but using a combination of the New Wave controls with the Dust window borders really make a beautiful and distinct look. (See pictures below)

-One of the new features that stands out is the new shutdown dialog, very OSX-like i like it.

-I ditched Pidgin for Kopete since I find it a little too conservative for my tastes. (No offense to people who use Pidgin, it can be pretty mean with the right plugins and guifications ;)) I honestly think Ubuntu should come with Kopete, yes i know it's KDE but that doesn't stop them from putting The Gimp in KDE.

-I also uninstalled Rhythmbox for Songbird, very nice app besides the fact that the seek bar is broken. No big deal.

-Overall the system seems faster than Hardy, especially boot-up times. There were no hiccups I have noticed on my hardware. I am impressed especially after customizing it to my liking.

There is one bug or glitch: This may have already been filed but sometimes over hovering the window border it will blank out, maybe there is a workaround for this I am not aware of or it will be fixed when the final comes out, not a big problem for me though.

Here are some screenshots:

You can see where the window border blanks out when hovered over occasionally.

Kopete in Gnome looks good with a little bit of customization.

The New Wave/Dust combination is quite nice.
