The highest resolution that I can achieve under Ubuntu is 1024x768. Under XP SP3, I can get higher. What can I do to fix this on Intrepid? I also use KDE 4.1.
I tried running the command gksu displayconfig-gtk and it does nothing.

Unfortunately, many of us with laptops and ATI cards in them have to wait until the proprietory fglrx driver is available. It does not work currently with the new version of Xorg. See this post:

The open source radeon driver works reasonably well for the time being.
