Been having problems with my pen drive, tried reformatting it but it wont let me.

What is your problem, exactly? And from the mkfs output, it looks that it worked fine, could you post the output of


sudo mkdir /mnt/mountpoint
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/mountpoint

?

Have you tried formatting it using Gnome Partition Editor?

Just unmount it and plug it in again and run sudo fdisk -l

?

error : you must specify the filesystem type


Yes I have tried the partition editor, and it comes up with a few errors.

I can't unmount it because according to ubuntu... its not mounted.

In the computer folder, the usb drive logo comes up, and when I double click it, it says that its unable to mount the drive.

I prefer the Gparted Live-CD myself.
