Does anyone know anything about this?

I have an Inspiron 1420n running 8.04 and when I unplug the A/C adapter after it has been up and running for quite a while, the laptop thinks it is still running in AC mode.

It also takes quite a long time for the logout options or power management options to display on the screen after clicking the respective buttons. When they do finally show up, I have no option for suspend or hibernate either.

Once I reboot, everything works fine again and I have my suspend and hibernate options and the power management app and shutdown menu pop up as soon as they are clicked.

Thanks....

System is up to date according to the update manager.

Are there any logs I should be looking at specifically to see if there are any crashes in the power manager or any type of message that may give me a hint?

I am not a ubuntu or linux expert but I am a java software developer so I may be able to do something with the information from the log files. I'll try checking them after being on AC for a while today.
