gtkwifi and network manager

Hi all

How do gtkwifi and network manager compare? I know that the plan is to include network manager in Dapper, and I wondered if gtkwifi complements that or is an alternative to that?

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge GTKWifi operates on top of the usual ifupdown tools for managing network connections, whereas Network Manager totally replaces ifupdown and brings its own tools (dbus + hal) to provide network awareness. It's likely that GTKWifi can also operate together with Network Manager as well, but considering the "one app per task" principle of Ubuntu, its necessity would be at question if we have Network Manager in Dapper.
