Intrepid Ibex problem

I just upgraded to the beta release of 8.10...

It solved many of my problems...(including the HP Wifi button glowing)

But I dont seem to have the button through which to "shut down" restart,hibernate,etc on the panel....

I searched to add to the panel...
I find two separate buttons...one containing "Shut Down", "Restart", "Hibernate", "Suspend"
and the other conatining "Log Out" "Switch User"...

Where is that master button?

Another problem is:

I cannot open my partitions through:
Places>18.9 GB media
It says:
/media/disk is a directory
Please check that you typed the location correctly

But I can go to Places>Computer and then access those partitions...
