hi ,

I did an uninstallation of UBUNTU ON MY PC which has only one partition. i formated the hard disc afterward. I cant find out that it has corrupted my recovered Microsoft excel files.
I have tried lots of file recovery and repair tools but still cant retrieve the contents of the damaged file

Can you please help me retrieve the contents of my windows excel files

Have you tried with OpenOffice calc? It has helped me at times.

That will have erased all files on the partition you formatted but there is still some hope of recovery.

You can try using testdisk. A guide can be found here (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntucat/recovering-windows-files-with-a-ubuntu-cd-iii-deleted-files/). You might try this from a live CD if necessary so that you do not write anything to the disk before attempting recovery.

If you need more help, please post what you have already tried.

Cheers, Pat.
