Just installed it on a spare hard drive today. Bit of trouble at first but once I installed my wireless driver it worked fine. Took awhile installing and downloading the updates though.
What I'm really wondering is can I get rid of Internet Explorer and a few other things permenantly?
Also I need a decent Music player that resembles Rhythmbox. Winamp is plain horrible and I've never been a fan of Windows Media Plyer but I may have to resort to it.
Thanks!

Getting rid of IE completely borks some other stuff.
As far as your music player, i've always used MusikCube. WxMusik is also very good, but not as light as Musikcube.

Thank you! Both of those were very nice and simple :)

I still prefer Firefox for its functionality, but I do not worry about having IE7 installed any more. It's sandboxed now so it's a lot harder for exploits to run amok on your system. If you don't use it you can just hide the shortcuts.
For music, keep an eye out for AmaroK. It's a great player from KDE that should have a Windows port very soon.

If you are used to Linux... Google for BB4Win
it gives Windows the look and feel of Openbox WM.. its great!
You ahve to right click to get up your menu, and you can get addons and tweaks for it.. really good :)

mediamonkey is a good music player as well. It's a bit more like Amarok, though.

you could try vlite, not sure if it will remove ie, but it will remove a lot of stuff, you have to use it before an install though, so perhaps no good for now, info here:

there's an interesting guide here:

Already had a look at vlite, seems like it might be interesting to mess around with.
For music players i've just ended up using windows media player, i don't tend to use vista much anyway just for live messenger and changing music on my mp3.

you could try vlite
Thanks for your post. I've been looking a few weeks for something like this for my wife's machine. This looks like what I've been waiting for.

Dont take IE out with vLite. I did that and you cant access any of the MMC things like Device Manager and such. Mine the 64bit vista though, so idk if it affects 32bit too but i wouldnt take a chance.
