"No xmame executable found"

I have installed gxmame .35 and xmame .101 and I get this "No xmame executable found" I have like 3 roms. where do i put them what am I doing wrong please help a noob:confused:

Ok here is a good clue about what is wrong. When I hit "rebuild game list" in gxmame it says "xmame not found". I am pretty sure I have it installed when I go to synaptic it shows it with a green box. Some one help me. please.:(

Hi Kemmer, I saw you havent had much help here yet. I havent got this game, but I have 2 questions.

1) I saw there is a howto in http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=86213&page=1 Did you install the game as described in there?

2) In that same thread Christoos says: To get a game running "You have to copy zip file in /usr/share/games/xmame/roms and than click refresh and go to avalible map and than select a game and than play game". Did you try that, and what happened?
