vista and ubuntu

I have a network with vista and ubuntu.
If I do not set passwords on the vista machine I can access the printer that is on vista from ubuntu.
If I set a password for the network on vista I cannot access the printer.
I have to set a password on the vista so as to be able to connect to an other xp laptop.

how can I configure ubuntu si that he can access the printer on Vista ?

I have a wireless printer on a mixed network. I have not had the password issue that you describe, but I did have trouble at first getting ubuntu to see the printer.

What make and model is your printer?

printer is an epson R230

It works if I have no password on vista
It doesn't if vista as a password
