When I start the upgrade to the new Intrepid Ibex beta, it tells me that I might have slower desktop effects and that the fglrx driver is not found for the upgrade.
Can I go ahead and once the upgrade is complete, the proprietary driver will be found or should I wait to upgrade until october 30th.
Thanks for all the help in this forum....

It is running swimmingly for me, but I would say wait a little while longer. Let them get some more bugs worked out first.

It was quite a mess yesterday. I haven't checked today.

The bottom line is you shouldn't be fooling with a dev distro if you want stability!

Meh, no printer for me, however until yesterday, NFS, and Rhythbox weren't working, after a fresh install, all is good with them.

If you want fglrx, you will have to wait until ATI release new drivers which support the new XOrg. I have been using the free ati drivers and love it. Don't see much different in performance and GL video playing works.

Envy isn't a driver. It simply has the ability to install the proprietary nvidia driver and fglrx.
The free driver is xserver-xorg-video-ati, and is installed by default. It even has 3D acceleration on some older cards.
