Gnome menu icons

I just installed kdevelop from synaptic on both my pc and my mac. On the pc the gnome menu shows the nice kde icons but on the mac there are just 'generic program' icons.

Wierder still - if I open Applications Menu Editor, the kde icons are there on the mac but still just don't show up on the Applications menu.

Anyone ay idea how what's going on?
