I am currently using Ubuntu 8.04 and am having some sound issues. Things were fine until I updated a lot of things. Fine being I could hear one source of sound but not two. Now the only thing I hear is when I login, not the African sound intro just a di-don kind of noise.

I've gone through the Comprehensive sound guide and it hasn't helped me.

Here is what aplay -l gives me:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC885 Analog [ALC885 Analog]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC885 Digital [ALC885 Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

alsamixer also works and everything is turned up and unmuted.

Any suggestions as what to do now? I'd like to be able to hear at least one source, preferably more. (Amarok and the Internet)

Thanks in advance!
