I'm trying to update Flash on my new Ubuntu Desktop (I'm new on UBUNTU OS, I bought a Sylvania g Netbook with remix on it and now I'm using classic desktop mode Hardy version) I was following instructions on a blog page on how to update flash and it was just as drag and drop a file on a plugins folder. When I download the file and try to drag and drop it UBUNTU says I was not the owner and I don't have permissions to do that, what?? I'm the owner so How can I log in as the root and do my job of drag and drop? can anyone help me here? thanx

press alt+f2, type> gksudo nautilus /

that will give you a root nautilus, be careful.

This should work. Hold down alt and hit f2. A program run box should appear on the screen. Type in "gksudo nautilus" (no quotes), enter your login password when prompted. Nautilus will open in Superuser mode. Navigate to the folder where you need to drop the file, and complete the action (put the file in there). This will work in Gnome, if you are in KDE, some other advice will be needed I suspect.

thanx I will do that and then I will come back and tell you what happens, thanx... remember This is my first time using other computer that's not a Mac, I never use PC before, so I don't know Windows or anything like that, just Mac OS, and now I'm exploring and learning with UBUNTU< and let me tell you, I love it!

ok, I did it, but when I drag and drop the same error appear: "YOU DONT HAVE PERMISSIONS! " also I noticed that all the icons inside the window are gray out, why is that?

Tried again, it says I'm not the owner... So, I'm not Root right?

OMG! I did it! great thanx!

ok, everything it's alright now, but there is a page that I can't see and it's made in flash and shockwave I think, I can enter on it, put my name and pass but the button that I need to click on it don't do nothing, is something weird , I can see it but I cannot press it at all.... what's going on, I try on my mac and everything works on that page.. so maybe it's something about firefox? Ubuntu? anyone?
