Hi,

I am looking for the explanation of what repositories to use.

There is a server named archive.ubuntu.com with:
breezy
breezy-security
breezy-updates

and security.ubuntu.com with:
breezy
breezy-security
breezy-updates

So now my question is: what's the difference. Why should i use security.ubuntu.com or archive.ubuntu.com or even a local mirror of this one for example us.archive.ubuntu.com

I searched around on the forum, i could find the how question but not the why.

I think the difference may be in what packages they hold. As I understand it, you should have both. See the first link of my sig for examples.

Thanks for the link anyway. I found it already with the searchfunction.

My problem is not how to put it into the sources.list, i just like to know the backgrounds of how and why things are done.

So if you say you think there are differences in the packages they hold, i'd like to know what sort of differences and what the reason is behind that.

Anyway thanks for the quick reply.
