4Orbs

I enjoy occasionally installing new distros ('buntu derivatives) and have come to realize that it's probably unnecessary to hit the repository for downloads for each new install since I already have my usual selection of apps already stored in the /var/cache folder. Can I just copy the debs over to storage on a different partition, then when I do a new install copy those debs back into the new cache folder? Will Synaptic automatically know that those debs exist in cache and there is no need to re-download for installation? Thanks for any advice or link pointing me in the right direction.
