After updating for the first time a few weeks ago, I began getting system crashes that require a hard re-boot. (It also made some changes in my old kernel for some reason, so I can't even go back to it.) There doesn't seem to be any common cause, as it can and does happen without warning, no matter what I am doing.
Sometimes it is while browsing, sometimes with the screen saver active, sometimes when I am playing games, etc...
I would really like to get this problem worked out. My wife will use Ubuntu if it is stable, but won't tolerate the issues we have going at this time. As a result, she boots into Vista every time now... (Go figure, but in seven months, there has not been a single issue with the usability of Vista...)
I can get into terminal and post the output of any suggested commands if it will help. I'll start with lshw if it will actually work. (I get no result about 70% of the time... it seems to get hung up at 'PCI (sysfs)' and goes nowhere from there... I never get results when I run it as sudo)john@john-1525n:~$ lshw
