Theres a Last.fm plugin in Rhythmbox, enable it in the Plugins window and enter your account details.

Even if the thread's a bit dusty now... but there's a cool plugin for Rhythmbox which makes it possible to use the last.fm client for scrobbling, tagging and so on. You can get it on Juergen Kreileder's blog http://blog.blackdown.de/2007/05/19/lastfm-for-rhythmbox-new-style/ as well as a good howto.

Works great, I prefer it over the built-in plugin Rhythmbox comes along with.

You can install the Last.fm client through Synaptic. As for setting up Rhythmbox, do the following:

Go to the Edit menu and select Plugins
Put a check-mark next to the Last.fm plugin, then click the Configure button
Enter the user name and password for your Last.fm account
Click Close (twice)
Re-start Rhythmbox

If you are still not able to get it to work, you might try using BMPX instead. It can be installed via Synaptic, and is (in my opinion) much better than Rhythmbox anyway. In fact, I think it has the best Last.fm integration out of all of the Linux audio apps I have ever tried.
