how to save file retrieve from linux through ftp service in current directory

i set up ftp service in red hat linux 9.0 and i used php cording to get and put file in linux from windows xp. if i get file using php cording it will open a new browser to display the content of the file and the file automatically saved in www folder in appServ. how to save the retrieve file in other directory?
