kdenlive no audio on exported avi files

I'm running kdenlive and I'm having problems creating AVI videos from the timeline using xdiv output. The video itself is fine except I get no audio. If I use MPEG4 I get audio and video. Likewise if I burn a High Quality DV (.avi) video.

Anyone with any ideas. The computer I'm using is a Dell Latitude C640 laptop running Kubuntu 8.04.
