Yeah, I want to scale a digital camera photo from the raw image to say 800x600 px,and can do that, but when I try to save it, it saves the photo, and the entire background of th original size, albeit white.
How can I just save the scaled photo itself ? Thanks :)

Did you try to save an image in some other format type?

I don't use raw images from my camera, but the jpegs that I have are scaled without problem, and without saving the white surround. If you are really getting that happen, I suspect it may be the raw format that causes the difficulty. Try converting to tiff or jpeg and try again.

The image is imported from my camera with F-Spot as 2576x1932 px jpeg file.

I find Image>scale image works fine.
BTW you need the UFraw plugin and UFraw and the save to web plugin for best resaults.

You may want to flatten the image and double check you are saving as .jpg

I can't really think of anything that would make the pic disappear other than adding a white layer by mistake.
