Someone please help me in fixing the sound problem in my Ubuntu Hardy laptop.

I solved this issue by doing

$ sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils
$ sudo apt-get install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils

ok how do i get Ubuntu gutsy to pick up sis sound card in desktop?:confused:
