Hi,
I cannot find any mention of S-video out on the limited specs for all laptops on system76's website. Do you have more detailed specs available or are there truly no S-video out options remaining any more? I really hope the former, as I was planning to buy one at Xmas, but I need S-video out.
Thanks.

The SERP3 I have has one, but it doesn't look like the new models do. Why don't you just buy a converter block? They're only like $10 (http://www.amazon.com/EFORCITY-VGA-S-Video-RCA-Adaptor/dp/B000P3UB24) if the VGA card supports TV-out and around $40 (http://www.amazon.com/E-Book-PC-VIDEO-CABLE-GEZ-1000/dp/B0000A0BOB/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1223044859&sr=1-10) for cards that don't...

None of the new laptops have s-video out. The converter idea is a good one, though.

That really sucks and will probably be a deal breaker for me. :(

S76 guys -- which is it in the case of your machines? Thanks.

why do you keep saying this!?

i pugged my "s-video out" into my tv, restarted x, and open up nvidia-settings, an there was my tv, waiting to be set.

no special settings, nothing, just a fresh install (and drivers) and done.

so, yes, the nvidia laptops, DO have s-video out.

None of the laptops in the NEW, CURRENT line-up have S-Video out connectors. I believe that was the original question.

That was the original question. But my question is:

Which converter would I need to buy? Does the *VGA card* support TV out or no?

You'd probably have to get someone at System76 to test that (since it might be an OS-dependent feature) or maybe ask nVidia about it. Alternatively, you could get the cheap one and send it back for the expensive one if it doesn't work :)

This is not something we generally test. I've sent a request to R&D and will let you know what they say.

I'd be interested in knowing which converter to buy for the Daru2. If you you could ask R&D to check that would be great.

We don't really test various converters (or other third-party hardware). I am asking them if the vga chipset supports tv-out.

Update on this?

At this point, with the new Serval being well out of my price range, I'm specifically interested in the answer to this question w/r/t the Pangolin Performance.

Thanks

I'm not able to find any data on this. R&D says they can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work, and I'm pretty sure I've had a customer report hooking up his Pangolin to a TV.

About all I know to tell you at this point is: 1) It probably will work; 2) There's a 30-day money back guarantee in case the computer doesn't suit your needs.
