Yeah, that's not a laptop that will be content with a mere battery. :p

Comparing to the pangolin performance there is a 850 dollar difference when you line up the specs.

What is the price of the nvidia GeForce 9800M GT with 512MB DDR3?

Impressive.

Now... Where's the Serval Perf.?

It's built into the price of the machine.

It is a really nice laptop with great specs, but are there plans for a new Serval Performance like everyone is asking? Something in a slightly lower price range, but with a little more beef than the Pangolin?

I think you guys are being to rought on it...i mean cmon look at the bright side:

1) Its only 40 inches thick....

2) It only weighs 8.5 pounds

3) It gets an amazing 2.5 hours (I say less than 2 real world) battery life.

This thing is the epitome of design efficiency when it comes down to use of space and use of power

Yikes.

When designing an all new model with these type of specs, this is what should be the model:

NOT this

and then after all that is done, charge me a price that would buy me a new Mac Pro

WOAH that is one cool laptop! I wish I had that! XD

Yarg, I'd consider getting a Pangolin Performance if it had something a bit better than an Nvidia 9300GS with 256 DDR2. I think that is the first laptop I've seen with a P9500 and P9600 option.

Woa!

I agree with the "bring back the serval!" guys!. I mean, seriously, the Bonobo is really cool, but it's a super-laptop. 17'' and it's a bit too expensive for me.

Like the others, I'd buy a pangolin, but the nvidia 9300 is kind of crappy...

The old serval was ok...

So? Any plans on a new serval? Or a not-so-expensive 15'' variant of the Bonobo?

I have about 2000 I want to spend (including taxes), the pangolin is too cheap and the bonobo is to expensive (and large)... what to do, what to do...

I totally concur with Xorlium. Id buy a pangolin in a heart beat if it had a slightly more powerful video card and a non glossy screen.

[edit] of course the old serval was just fine minus the darn glossy screen

Guys, I heard from R&D today. The Serval is definitely coming. And I also got to play with it.

I'm not saying this to yank your chains, guys. But it is NICE.

Awesome. Thanks for the update.

I was feeling like most others here. That's a darned impressive machine and I'm sure it'd make an awesome desktop replacement machine. But I want a little mobility to it, and the Bonobo is just a little too big and a lot too expensive for me.

I can hardly wait for the Serval!

Ahem...

*sits back and relaxes and continues putting "reload" every few hours, as before the bonobo announcement*

I have to say, I agree with all of you. Bonobo is awesome, but a little impractical. With those specs and weight, it probably should come equipped with wheels and a generator... :)

Now, if only we knew when the Serval was coming out!

Don't worry, it can be expected to be released by the year 2012.

Regarding the Bonobo being impractical, it depends on what you will be using it for.

The reason we brought it online is that we received tons of requests from programmers for a 17" laptop.

It is definitely a desktop replacement computer and not impractical at all for that type of usage.

If I max this puppy out (more RAM, GPU, bigger battery etc.) and throw in a carrying case (what the hell, right?) it can be all be mine for a paltry, trifling even, total of $3,619.00!

So, that being the case; lets see here...

With tax (pounds keys) and shipping (pounds keys)...

Hey, STILL under $4K!!!

w00t!!

I'll take two!!

I know, I know. Being a programmer myself, I feel the lust for it too. :) When I said impractical, I really meant in my own case... I simply don't need a laptop that beefy. The Serval suits me far better.

Hmmm. I've been asking about a 17" DTR srom S76 for a while now. But I didn't expect this. I have to say, $1900 is pushing it. But definitely something to think about. (BTW, my Daru1 is still a terrific little machine.)

In all honesty, I currently have a 17" Toshiba Laptop, and I love having this huge screen. It's a little thinner than a textbook, but about as wide, which makes it fit in my bag without me having to worry about it being destroyed by a rogue tome when I'm bumped in the hall. Anything bigger is surely impractical, but 17 seems something like a magic number to me. I was quite pleased that they came out with something this big, myself.

The Serval Professional it out!

...Unfortunately it's out of my price range :/
