How do I fix a "Base System Device" not being installed?

I have looked at the HP forums, but have not had any success fixing a 6910p with a flash media (SD, etc.) card reader issue. The Device Manager shows up as installed, but a "Base System Device" does not show up as installed. How do I get this to install?

I have checked the SD card and it does work. Thanks!

In Windows XP in the device properties, go to the details tab. Look up the VEN (vendor ID) or DEV (device ID) listed in that tab on this site:

I got it working. It was the card reader. The Smart Card and the Flash media reader are different files. I thought I had installed both.
