I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my Dell Inspiron E1505. There was not driver installed for my ATI X1400 video card so I ran envyng-gtx in hopes that it would install the driver. I believe that envyng installed the fglrx driver.
envyng ran without warnings, however, when I restarted my laptop, my video card wasn't recognized and I had to pick my card and monitor from a list. Even after doing that I was stuck with 800x600 resolution
I then uninstalled the driver using envyng, then upon restart image on the monitor was blurred and unreadable. The only thing I could do was to do was reinstall Ubuntu 8.04 again.
I can run my monitor at 1680 x 1050 without installing the driver, but I won't have and 3d acceleration for playing games or adding desktop effects. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get the driver installed correctly?
Thanks in advance!
