I purchased computer parts for a new home built computer in the beginning of August. After about a month had gone by I needed to have the hard drive replaced because it failed.

After round 3 weeks this 2nd hard drive failed on me and I got a new one yesterday.

This newest hard drive failed on me after less than 24 hours. I am beginning to believe that it was not the hard drive manufacture at fault but most likely the motherboard SATA channels.

Could I get some opinions on this please? When my hard drives would die I was using an old IDE hard drive which was working fine during the SATA drive down time, did not fail at all.

My DVD SATA drive has been working fine but I have not attempted to do any DVD burning with it.

Would you guys guess it is the motherboard, SATA cable, or hard drives that are the reason for this?
