Try to re-install drivers and packages for the wired/wireless device.
If you are using a wireless encrypted connection try to disable the security key, if that works you need to setup it manually if you want the security back.

@ titico
Thx for you reply. But it worked before (after a live CD install) and I just done a refresh install. Also I can ping. So therefore I dont think it is a driver issue.
BTW Its a wired connection, not wireless.
@ Codename
Thx I will give it a go when I get home and post the results.

Are you using Mythbuntu? If not, what programs have you installed for you HTPC?
I would uninstall the programs one at a time and see if your internet connection works without x program.

You didn't install 8.10 Alpha 6, did you? If so, you might be a victim of the blacklisted e1000e Gigabit ethernet driver module. Check the first sticky here:

His/her LAN is a Realtek chip which uses the r8169 module. It is not affected by this.

Thanks you guys.
As I told in my previous post, I reinstalled Ubuntu and this didnt help. This made me think it wasnt an OS issue.
To verify this, I had to install a Win***s OS. With the new OS still no internet.
So my conclusion is: its an HW issue. A very strange HW issue, but still.
So if you guys dont have any bright ideas, I am going to RMA my motherboard :(
