I'm pretty much brand new at mythbuntu, and getting my feet wet this weekend with it.
For some reason, I can't seem to play a dvd and unsure why. From the front end, I choose optical drives, play dvd, and nothing seems to happen.
This is using a LG GBW-H20L blue ray drive.
As I'm new to linux and mythbuntu in general, I'm unsure exactly where to proceed.
can anyone lend a newbie a hand?
thanks.. PT

Thanks for the link. Its contains a lot of good info on playing HD and blueray videos.
However, for current delimma. I'm using the LG blue ray drive, but am actually trying to play a Standard Definition dvd from my collection.
Currently when I chose optical drive, I can eject the media. But when attempting to play the dvd, the drive starts, then I get a blank screen for about 2 seconds, then just back the menu.
I've set this machine up to triple boot xp and vista, but haven't tried it on either of those OS yet. I'll try that later tonight when family heads back home for the day. I should be able to play a SD dvd on the drive.
Thanks

You need to set up libdvdcss2. It's in MCC.

Thanks for the help, and I hate to be a PIA.
I'm sorta lost by what you mean my MCC (Media Control Center?). I'm just not sure where I should be looking to install libdvdcss2
Yep...I'm a newbie in training. Think I'm about to head over to borders and buy me a book today too:D
EDIT: Nevermind. Got libdvdcss2 installed. Although thus far, the video/audio appears to be pretty choppy. Not sure why. I know I've goot enough memory and CPU. Guessing it codec issues?
Thanks for the help!!!

Just for others who might come by: MCC = Mythbuntu Control Center.
