Today I was studying Linux programs that are the equivalent to MS. When I came across iTune replacements. There were many.
The reason I am posting here must be obvious. So I want to know from the Apple users, what have you seen that replaces iTunes as the most comfortable application?

I guess for me it's Amarok. I haven't done much with it though besides just listening to music. No organizing or anything.
I have had it crash on me a few times, but iTunes will do the same thing from time to time. So will Windows Media Player.

I don't use Mac OS X either, but I use gtkpod to manage my iPod but I use Banshee to play my iPod music.

Honestly I've never used iTunes very much at all. However, I really like amarok. It works perfectly with my creative zen v+.

If you listen to Classical and depend on the Composer tag in iTunes and in your music files, then QuodLibet is the only Linux player I've found that gets the job done.

Appearance-wise, I think Rhythmbox is most similar to iTunes of the replacements I've seen (Amarok, Banshee and Rhythmbox). Amarok comes highly recommended, but I had difficulty converting to it from iTunes; setting up music lists wasn't intuitive and I didn't caae for the tabs at the left. Rhythmbox was intuitive for me, a Mac user and an iTunes user. I found Rhythmbox nice aesthetically, as nice as iTunes. The newest version of Amarok is an improvement, but I still prefer Rhythmbox. It also works well with an iPod, although neither it nor Amarok work with the older generation Firewire iPods.

I've tried most of them and the only one that worked with my iPod was Songbird. I don't like the idea of have to drag songs from one library to the other or whatever. I think the functionality between iTunes and Songbird is closer than the others I've tried. It works without an issue.

I really like the look of Amarok sadly it's for KDE and not Gnome. Any chance of getting a Gnome app with similar funcionality? I love the album cover art screen.

Exaile is supposed to be similar to Amarok but using gtk, but I haven't really used it so don't know if it has that particular feature. Also it's perfectly fine to use KDE apps in Gnome.

I would say Amarok would be the best. I also have a Zune, and it happens to be the only player that (halfway) picks it up and (halfway) syncs it.
